Media Relations Associate, Marketing and Communications, Corporate and Investment Bank
 
The J.P. Morgan Communications and Marketing team in London are seeking an associate who is interested in working with the rapidly changing London media industry.  If you wake up every day with a hungry appetite to know what’s going on in the news, and if you like working in a team environment and learning about complex issues, then we’d love to meet you.
 
Core Responsibilities
  • Create and implement a tactical PR strategy which secures regular positive media coverage for the firm’s corporate and investment banking businesses.  Your coverage areas would include Treasury Services, Global Corporate Bank, Trade Finance, Nordics Investment Banking, Industry coverage, Securitization and U.K. Recruitment
  • Generate and manage coverage opportunities through proactive outreach and reactive to incoming media enquires
  • Understanding of the print, broadcast, digital and social media news ecosystem, with established journalist or editorial contacts across all media
  • Draft PR materials, such as press releases, for distribution to press and digital media outlets
  • Provide support on crises and complex issues in co-ordination with internal partners both locally and globally to ensure reputational issues impacting the business are effectively managed in the media
  • Build relationships with senior leaders to understand their business priorities and where they fit with the firm’s global media strategy
  • Identify and help secure speaking opportunities for executives
  • Prepare communications for senior business leaders on a wide range of issues, translating messages into compelling story ideas, pitches and speeches in line with the firm’s overall media strategy and reputation drivers
  • Develop, manage and coordinate media relations plans around issues and major change with an impact across the business
  • Co-ordinate and deliver media training for senior spokespeople
  • Help create content for the CIB’s social media channels in partnership with the social media and marketing teams
  • Plan and manage press events – media roundtables, media receptions, conference attendance
  • Work closely with regional and global members of the global Marketing and Communications team to provide ongoing support with regular information sharing and guidance, and help as needed on ad hoc projects
  • Maintain and update communication toolkits for the region (e.g. factsheets, press kits, biographies, boilerplates)
  • Measure the effectiveness of external communications delivered in EMEA; recommend and implement improvements
Qualifications
  • Three-five years of experience in communications, including proactive and reactive PR
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong external relationships with journalists/contacts in global media
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) and popular social media channels
  • Another language an asset
