The SWIFT Infrastructure team is responsible for SWIFT market infrastructure services as well as FX settlement system for the firm. The candidate is expected to have an understanding of the technical challenges faced by critical core systems in the firm including low latency/high volume data feeds, multi-dimensional aggregation & presentation, transaction management for absolute data integrity, and effective fault-tolerance for maximum availability.


The role requires an experienced Technology professional with appreciation of both Application and Infrastructure architecture disciplines to support the shaping and leading of complex technical programmes. Experience of working in an agile/scrum environment and with a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) package are both desirable but not essential to the role. Candidates will be expected to become familiar with the complete technology stack, considering both the functional and non-functional aspects of a system.  


Able to support the planning, management, execution and reporting of all programme development and testing activities for specified Projects or Programmes within their functional area, using approved development tools, techniques, and conforming to agreed standards, to ensure that new and amended software and hardware, together with any application interfaces, perform as specified and as intended.


 The role will require proficiency in all aspects of the SDLC lifecycle, including:


  • Reviewing and elaborating stakeholder requirements

  • Understand operational processes in order to provide solutions which improve operational efficiency

  • Excellent understanding of server and software technology stacks and experience of working with infrastructure, middleware and database teams.
  • Experience of working with Linux platforms
  • Good understanding of Agile development practices tools: source code control software, automated build, automated testing and task tracking
  • Good Core Java knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of implementing 3-tier architectures
  • Understanding of implementing end user applications, data feeds, and aggregation services
  • Good understanding of High Availability and Disaster recovery technologies and approaches
  • Understanding of database (Oracle) development and Logical and Physical Data Models (and modelling)
  • Good knowledge of structured data types e.g. XML, JSON
  • Experience of application development in a high transactional multi-platform environment
  • Interest in “Big Data” technologies – Stream &  Lamda processing architectures,
  • Experience in the development and use of APIs e.g. REST
