Job Description:

The Private Bank addresses every facet of wealth management from investment management and brokerage to tax and estate planning, credit, capital raising, and specialty wealth advisory services.
The Business Finance Manager (“BFM”) would be based in Chicago, IL or New York, NY.  This role will report directly to the US High Net Worth CFO.  The BFM will provide business management oversight for the HNW business including business growth strategies, financial and information management, sales management, and project management.  This role involves frequent interaction with USPB regional finance teams, front office management and advisors (e.g., Client Advisors, Lending Advisors, etc.) in a fast-paced team environment.
Strategic Planning
  • Partner with US HNW CFO and Head of US HNW to develop strategic business plans
  • Develop and present strategic insights about the HNW business
  • Partner with US HNW CFO to prepare for regular business reviews

Financial and Information Management:

  • Interpret financial results and communicate financial messages to management and regional finance teams
  • Conduct analyses to understand business drivers, uncover trends, and identify opportunities to improve results
  • Manage financial planning and forecasting processes and monitor performance against plan
  • Drive disciplined expense management
  • Research and resolve data issues and answer reporting questions from management and front office advisors
  • Work with US HNW CFO and Head of US HNW to assess talent, using a metrics-driven approach, and develop and track against hiring targets

Sales Management:

  • Develop and maintain robust sales management processes and toolkits for Head of US HNW
  • Drive ongoing enhancements and modifications to internal sales management processes
  • Manage client segmentation strategies and monitor results
  • Escalate and / or resolve client issues; track and measure recurring themes for systemic issues and opportunities

Project Management:

  • Provide disciplined project management on ad hoc projects; coordinate initiatives which have sales force and/or client impact
  • Partner with US HNW CFO and Head of US HNW to identify, propose, and achieve funding for investments and performance improvement initiatives
  • Own real estate strategy and logistics in conjunction with Real Estate team and perform space planning
Risk Management:
  • Ensure proper discipline around risk management procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Finance experience including budgeting, forecasting, modeling, interpreting results, and identifying drivers and trends
  • Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive, strategic thinker
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Client focused with a tenacity to resolve issues and conflicts
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Microsoft Access a plus  
  • High energy and enthusiasm required to partner with multiple stakeholders
  • Capable of exercising forceful yet sensible leadership; willing to make tough/unpopular decisions
  • Able to work in a dual reporting matrix environment
  • Attention to detail with ability to implement controls
  • Affable, with a high tolerance for ambiguity
  • College degree; MBA a plus
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Specific industry related experience preferred
