Job Description:
Commercial Banking provides comprehensive solutions, including lending and treasury services, to corporations, municipalities, financial institutions and not-for-profit entities with annual revenues generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion, as well as real estate investors and owners.
The Commercial Banking (CB) Finance & Business Management (F&BM) Functional Control team is responsible for the oversight, governance and development of the control environment including developing and administering the Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA), control identification and defining proper testing methodology, issue and action plan management, audit prep and management, control metrics and reporting, business resiliency, as well user tool identification and controls. 
The Control Officer - Associate will be a part of an independent team within CB F&BM with the responsibility to assist in implementing an effective control framework across the F&BM organization.
  • Work with F&BM colleagues to develop an in-depth understanding of the risks and controls throughout the functional teams and assist in the identification and/or development of controls to mitigate gaps
  • Work with F&BM colleagues to create robust test scripts to evaluate the efficacy of controls identified
  • Engage with CB Central Control as required; providing updates to the CB Control leadership as necessary
  • Assist in Issue and Action Plan development, as well as gathering evidence and documenting appropriate support for issue closure
  • Maintain awareness of significant changes impacting the business, particularly from a RCSA perspective
  • Build knowledge of F&BM, its policies and procedures, Commercial Banking regulations/laws, and RCSA practices in order to implement necessary enhancements to control activities and minimize risk
  • Ensure adequate quality control over RCSA work products and deliverables
  • Assist in developing a process mapping protocol for F&BM functions and ensure Associated Risk & Control Matrix are maintained in an evergreen state
  • Ensure that F&BM remains in alignment with Firm-wide O&C and Commercial Banking RCSA Standards/Procedures
  • Execute testing of controls against documented test scripts
  • Document results of control tests ensuring proper evidence to support testing methodology and sample sizes
  • Assist in the development of F&BM Control reporting and metrics package for senior leadership
  • Assist in development of User Tool awareness and governance protocol for F&BM teams
  • Participate in special projects, as assigned
Qualifications (Required):
  • Bachelors degree, with concentration in business (finance/accounting or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in risk and controls, quality assurance testing or auditing function
  • Proven analytical thinker with ability to identify, analyze and solve problems in a thoughtful manner, with diplomacy and professionalism
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Extremely organized and attentive to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed
  • Knowledge and understanding of the RCSA process and control testing methodology
  • Experience developing test scripts, audit programs,  testing plans and templates
  • Strong work ethic and highest integrity
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
