About Global Technology Infrastructure
Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services. GTI is designed to address the unique infrastructure needs of specific lines of business and the demand to leverage economies of scale across the firm.

The Data Center Tech Lead sets the standards for professional knowledge and growth for engineers and the department. They are responsible for training and development of all site technicians.  Although the technical lead does not have direct reports, they provide feedback to the Site Manager regarding development, interaction, and professional expertise and conduct of all team members.

This position will act as a technical member of the Data Center Operations Team.  Engineer duties will include a combination of systems administration, monitoring and management, process automation, technical leadership in an advanced data center environment, mentoring junior staff, and troubleshooting and problem resolution.
       Performs quality assurance review on project implementations to ensure high level of standards are being met
       Coordinate and support large complex data center installations
       Handle escalations from team for project and incident related activities
       Contribute to the development of training curriculum for Data Center Site Engineers covering JPMC processes and procedures
       Research and support issues on daily break reports related to media, assets, and security
       Drive continual data center optimization and service improvement
       Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
       Verify that all project materials are properly returned/disposed of after project completion
       Backup other leads in their duties, when required
       Verify that all required materials are on-site before work is scheduled to start.

       Represents Data Center Operations in activities with various support or partner organizations.
       Attends all daily turnover meetings in order to stay abreast of business impacting issues for the past 24 hours.
       Provide consultation to Data Center Operations front line managers in regards to technical, financial, and personnel matters.
       Ready and available each day to participate in the Daily Briefing calls, following up on operational opportunities that may be identified from previous day issues.

Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity
Make certain that all current and new personnel are trained on JPMC Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity concepts and that they are in their possession all the necessary documentation for expedient, safe, and appropriate response to disasters or outages affecting JPMC infrastructure.
Risk / Documentation
Ensure that operational production processes are clearly documented, communicated, adhered to, and audit compliant. Responsible for making sure that controls are in place to maintain documentation and tracking of activities and responsibilities for Data Center Operations. Monitor obsolescence and assist in maintaining current Data Center Operations documentation within the JPMorgan Chase document repository.
This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems.  Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter.  The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.


  • Proven track record of implementing Data Center technology infrastructure projects
  • In depth knowledge of Data Center technologies and associated environmental tooling and monitoring
  • Knowledge of LOB applications, organizations and processes
  • Understanding of Resiliency patterns, current and future, including out of region requirements
  • Understanding the application hierarchy from app/web/DB through the hardware platforms in the Data Centers
  • Knowledge of toolsets being utilized by the LOB and GTI and drive LOB requirements into the new toolsets
  • Work with DC Engineering and facilities teams to identify and implement efficiency improvements
  • Leadership experience managing complex technology infrastructures in a fast paced, mission critical setting
  • Strong analytical, organization, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to develop training curriculum and lead global training efforts
  • Understanding of project management processes and best practices
  • Experience implementing ITIL control processes

Technical Abilities:
  • Previous operational experience in a large-scale data center
  • Experience supporting server-class hardware builds / deployments
  • Experience working with servers in a DMZ environment
  • Experience with testing tools, fluke meters, fiber testers & packet analysis
  • Knowledge of multiple hardware vendors
  • Understanding of network and administration concepts
  • Familiarity with infrastructure applications (DNS, Active Directory, etc)
  • Comprehension of infrastructure cabling (fiber, copper)
  • Solid understanding of multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, AIX, etc)
  • Familiarization / basic knowledge of storage systems
  • Past service provider engineering experience
  • Capable of optimizing process for maximum efficiency
  • Advanced documentation skills
