Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) 
Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance both business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services. GTI is designed to address the unique infrastructure needs of specific lines of business and the demand to leverage economies of scale across the firm. 
Data Centre Services (DCS)
Data Centre Services (DCS) is responsible for the development of Data Centre Strategy and Architecture to meet the firm’s compute and storage capacity requirements. DCS is also responsible for the management of Data Centre capacity, placement, governance reporting, and metrics. DCS is accountable for Global Data Centre management, incident support, and operations including Moves, Adds, Changes, and Cabling. DCS is also responsible for the Global Media management function, providing physical data guardianship of removable media for the Data Centre sites.
The Data Centre Services (DCS) organization, together with Supply Chain, works to deliver seamless end-to-end Data Centre services for the firm-including provisioning of all core infrastructures services (network, storage, and compute).
The Japan Data Centre Site Manager will have overall responsibility for data centre operations within Japan.
As the Japan Data Centre Site Manager you will be responsible for leading the team that manages data centre operations (including co-location sites) in Japan. You will be responsible for managing compliance with global standards, policies and standard operating procedures for device installation & decommission, IT asset and media management, incident resolution, physical access controls, and data centre capacity management.
The Japan Data Centre Site Manager is a VP level role and represents a key function within the global Data Centre Services organization. The role is based in Tokyo and reports to the APAC Head of Data Centre Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Managing data centre operations teams in Japan.
  • Providing governance of data centre operations, policies and processes in Japan.
  • Accountable for delivering day-to-day data centre operations adhering to global standards, policies and standard operating procedures covering:
    • Device installations, decommissions and relocations
    • IT asset and media management
    • Physical access controls
    • Incident resolution and change implementation
  • Participating in the development and implementation of the APAC data centre strategy.
  • Partnering with Data Centre Services strategy and engineering teams to deliver a new data centre in Japan ensuring it is ready-to-operate meeting the firm’s data centre operations standards.
  • Leading improvement projects such as equipment re-stacks, capacity expansion, and data centre build-outs.
  • Participating and organization of major events such as power downs and disaster recovery tests.
  • Partnering with Global Real Estate to manage data centre facilities, maintenance schedules and efficiency programs.
  • Development of data centre operations policies and procedures with regional and global peers.
  • Liaising with Data Centre Services Risk and Controls team to respond to audit and regulator requests for information.
  • Liaising with technology service owners and lines of business for device deployment planning and installation.
  • Management of data centre operations budgets; ensuring expenditure is within set limits.
  • Oversight of third party vendors confirming service level agreements are met, conducting regular service reviews, managing vendor costs, and invoices.
  • Championing team-work, knowledge sharing, and consistent operating methodologies.
  • Oversee hiring, staffing, training, and performance appraisals.

  • College degree in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills in both English and Japanese

  • Advanced understanding of server, network, and storage technologies, and associated architecture.
