As a NonStop/Tandem Database Engineer, you will maintain and utilize policies and procedures for ensuring that the JPMC NonStop/Tandem environments are performing in the most efficient manner and that the security and integrity of the NonStop/Tandem Pathway and Database environments are configured, implemented and maintained to the highest Bank and industry standards. Daily, project and program interaction targeted at Pathway and Database designs, configurations, placement, data access and table maintenance, resolution of Pathway and Database performance, database capacity, replication and other distributed data issues. Support daily or emergency procedures to resolve issues in production environments. Support the efforts of installing and maintaining Pathway and Database management and replication software.

 

Responsibilities:

  • You will work in a team environment of technical and development staff and demonstrate a working knowledge of relational Databases, (i.e., Oracle, NonStop SQL MP/MX), the relationship of the Database design to overall system Performance and Capacity as well as logical and physical design support including backup, replication and Database recovery.
  • You will be responsible for Pathway and database upgrades, 3rd party product upgrades, system performance monitoring, installations, managing replication, diagnosing system problems, disaster recovery testing and maintaining user accessibility.
  • In addition, you will act as a technical resource and liaison for the Card IT applications between partner internal and external technical, engineering and business entities.

In addition, the following specific skills are a requirement:   

  • Working knowledge of relational database design
  • HP Nonstop experience required.
  • Golden Gate replication experience required.
  • Detailed planning skills for installations and implementations.
  • Communication skills promoting the consultation, collaboration and advising with service delivery, applications and systems support technical teams.
  • Providing Pathway and Database technical support on behalf of the Application
  • Designing, planning, implementing Disaster Recovery techniques  

Technical Skills:

  • HP NSK (NonStop/Tandem)
  • Golden Gate Replication
  • Pathway Applications Environment experience desired, but not mandatory
  • Real-Time Client/Server Application experience a plus

Transferable Skills:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good communication skills 

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • 5 to 10 years of work experience in NonStop/Tandem.
  • Solid skills in related System, Application and Database design, replication, performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures.
  • Strong Database Management skills, including backup and database recovery procedures.
  • Strong understanding of Automation and the ability to automate repeatable functions, metrics, reporting.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Solid skills in productivity factors and the ability to understand the impact and remedy of problems on overall system and database performance.
  • Strong knowledge of fault detection, analysis and resolution processes.
  • Strong skills in maintenance tools and procedures.
  • Solid skills with one or more programming languages and design techniques
