Data Architect - Risk & Finance Technology
The Data Architect position is within Risk & Finance Technology (RFT) Data Acquisition & Hosting group.  The program is chartered to re-engineer acquisition and hosting of data to enable a single sourcing strategy and will include strategic data sourcing, data validation, transformation, enrichment, and loading to the hosting database capabilities.
We are seeking a Data Modeler/Data Architect with strong Data Ware house skills and ETL to provide expert guidance on gathering and analyzing of business data requirements and the creation of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling within our organization. The main focus of the work will be in development and maintenance of a catalog of the information assets - through business representation, physical representation in databases as well as underlined Data Ingestion/ETL process in files used to source data from suppliers of data, and the associated metadata from data sourcing through to persistence.
  • Gather and analyze business data requirements and model these needs. In doing so, work closely with the users of the information; the application developers and architects, to ensure the information models are capable of meeting their needs. 
  • Familiarity with Bi-Temporal modeling techniques, including knowledge of schema evolution and Schema on Demand techniques
  • Deliver the models both formally and informally through presentations to applications development groups and management.
  • Lead and perform database level tuning and optimization in support of application development teams on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Develop test scripts for testing sourced data and their validation and transformation when persisting in data stores that are physical representations of the data models.
  • Analyze information models in real-world systems and make useful and practical recommendations to their improvement. 
  • Provide solutions for complex information modeling and architecture problems.
  •  Minimum of 5+ years of business requirements analysis and information modeling (logical and physical) of key financial products (Bilateral, OTC & exchange traded, centrally cleared) and concepts (e.g. positions, trades, financing transactions, future flows, collateral/margining) in financial industry.
  • 5+ years of strong background in Database tuning and modelling techniques for Exadata as well as Hadoop. 

  • 3+ years Unix shell scripting experience 

  • 3+ background on Complex SQL query tuning. 

  • 3+ Experience with ETL techniques and tools like Ab Initio, Talend Etc.

  • 2+  years of experience with AVRO schemas, Parquet, Hive, HBASE

  • Strong 5+ years of background in Oracle / Exadata including latest evolution in this space. 

  • Minimum of 3+ years in handling Physical modeling (Big Data- EXADATA, HADOOP etc.) 

  • Proficiency in a data modeling tool – preferably Erwin. 

  • Good working experience of Microsoft Office suite 

  • General knowledge of financial industry products, processes and practices. 

  • High degree of Motivation and adaptability. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Exposure to Big data is a must 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) and assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, Zoomtext), and proven track record of incorporating into your day-to-day work, is a plus but not required
