Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the Firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner.
The Solution Architecture team within GTI has a mission is to generate application infrastructure designs based on the Firm’s businesses, application’s and infrastructure partner’s current and future requirements. A strong drive of the team will be on standardization via adoption of GTI managed services, resiliency in designs to meet stated recovery objectives, and address performance, scalability, security and data protection objectives. The expectation is deep engagement direct with application development teams and specifically lead application architects on key initiatives.
This role is an experienced Solution Architect (SA) within the team. This is a lead position with the expectation of broad and deep technology skills across a range of disciplines. The Solution Architect is accountable for the development of cost effective end to end technical solutions, and is the single design authority for the prescribed solution. Working in partnership with the technical service areas as needed, external vendors and project management team as required. There is implicit accountability for the solution working as designed.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Partnering with Architects and Business Application Development teams to understand functional requirements of a given project/application
  • Accountability to develop a key technical solution to meet those requirements and firmwide cost, resiliency and control requirements, leveraging standard building blocks as much as possible
  • Partnering with internal GTI experts from the Service Towers in review of any edge case design or net new product requirement (we do not work standalone)
  • Understanding fundamental GTI standard solution gaps, which are legitimate and which have biggest ROI to fix
  • Arranging and monitoring a solution to completion and ensuring project setup across GTI for success - Scoping, Resourcing, Project Management is appropriate for efforts
  • Maintaining an effective technical network across GTI, knowing the “Go-To” SMEs in multiple service areas
  • College degree in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience; masters preferred
  • Soft skills/attributes required for this role:
    • Real technical credibility from deep knowledge/understanding of some of the most challenging requirements
    • Able to handle technical SMEs without jeaporadizing relationships
    • Experience working closely with Senior Application architects
    • Thought leader in main technical domain – ready to be or already a JPMC Distinguished Engineer
    • Takes accountability for a major initiative
    • Credible and mature personality, with some presence
    • Mentor to more junior technical staff
    • Strong enough to constructively hold peers accountable in other groups/towers)
    • Concise communicator - able to translate detail into a concise story, getting immediately to the punch line
    • Self-starter, motivated - wants to get in, roll sleeves up and make a difference
    • Effective influencing skills, with groups not directly working for you
