GTI – End User Services – Client Platform and Remote Access Engineering – Desktop Lead, VP
End User Services (EUS) is responsible for the delivery of all core productivity and collaboration solutions globally, firm-wide. This includes physical and virtual desktop, remote access, email, mobile solutions, telephony, video conferencing, and other business communication and collaboration tools. EUS focuses on delivering solutions that meet business demand, while realising cost efficiencies. We work with our business partners to develop standardised, resilient operating environments, and implement a technology strategy for the firm’s 200,000+ workstations and 60,000+ remote access users.
Client Platform and Remote Access Engineering is responsible for physical Windows desktops and laptops, thin clients, Mac desktops and laptops, and remote access solutions. We are looking for a world-class Desktop Engineering Lead to be responsible for the engineering of thin clients and Windows desktop and laptop, having ownership of a challenging transformation agenda in those areas in 2018.
Key Roles and responsibilities:
  • Lead the Desktop Engineering team, with functional line management of a number of individuals.
  • Own the Windows desktop builds used for physical and VDI environments.
  • Drive and deliver the migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10, using the opportunity to deliver a step-change in how the platforms are delivered and managed
  • Drive ongoing optimisation of technology stacks to deliver lower TCO for the desktop, and a more agile, more up-to-date environment, staying current with vendor releases
  • Deliver a top-class experience to end users, maximising mobility, productivity and satisfaction
  • Investigate and propose new technologies and techniques for delivering and managing hardware and software to improve experience, security and productivity.
  • Manage relationships with vendor partners in this area, including hardware manufacturers
  • Ensure all releases are thoroughly tested, and drive quality and automation of testing practices
  • Handle escalation (L4) incident management, and corresponding problem management.
  • Work with project managers on global projects with a focus on technical design, risk assessment, costs, timing and benefits
  • Work with business subject matter experts and key stakeholders to successfully integrate their solutions and objectives on to our platform
  • Understand project requirements and map it to technology deliverables
  • Perform product assessment & document the findings and communicate to appropriate teams
  • Ensure firms platform and application standards are followed
  • Provide technical solutions and coordination for exceptions and issues as they arise
  • Interface with different teams (i.e. Packaging, Release Management, Development, QA, Real Estate, etc.)
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Experience of managing a Desktop Engineering team
  • Experience of financial services industry would be an advantage
  • Experience of how to approach Windows 10 migrations in an enterprise
  • Self motivated, able to work to goals with minimum supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, able to manage constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Heavily client focused and excellent team leader
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to actively listen and clearly communicate with other teams globally. Able to clearly articulate to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Experience working in a large global corporate environment with strong risk disciplines
  • Experience with ITIL and project management methodologies and discipline
