Department Description:

Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group within Finance whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the firm’s risk portfolios are fairly valued.  The group sets independent pricing and reserve policies.  VCG highlight concentrations in risk or uncertainties in parameter inputs and work with the trading and quantitative groups to fully understand their implications from a risk/return perspective and the impact on the desk’s level of reserving. In addition, VCG is responsible for the review of approximately loaded trades, high level risk / P&L analysis, approval of new products, and model releases.

VCG is organized along business lines including, IB Risk, Credit, Rates, Equities, Emerging Markets, Securitized Products, Principal Investments  FX & Commodities.  Clients of the group include senior management, business heads, regulators, and both internal and external audit.  The group also works closely with the Traders, CFOs, Market Risk, and Middle Office to ensure a complete understanding of business issues and the accurate execution of valuation policy.

 

VCG CIB Treasury looks after the IB Treasury business covering any valuation issues related to Funding Valuation Adjustment (“FVA”) for the investment bank. The global team has 4 members with 3 located in New York.

 

The team is looking to fill an experienced Vice President role that will take the regional lead for VCG CIB Treasury in North America, reporting to the head of VCG CIB Treasury. The role will require strong analytical skills and excellent problem solving as well the ability to communicate effectively at very senior level across CIB Treasury and CIB Businesses.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Taking ownership of valuation control process through effective management of NA team
  • Maintain strong relationship with Front Office, Product Control, Quantitative Research and Market Risk
  • Lead projects to strengthen valuation framework within CIB Treasury
  • Contribute to the core technical knowledge of the team
  • Interact with external auditors and regulators as required

  • 5 years or more in valuation control, market risk or quantitative role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, self-starter and can lead and motivate team members
  • Strong control mindset and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills (previous exposure to the trading floor and control groups is desirable)
  • Minimum good, numerate degree required (ideally in quantitative/technical discipline such as Physics / Engineering / Math / Computer Science)
  • Good funding and derivatives product knowledge
  • An understanding of  FVA, DVA modeling would be beneficial
