Markets Technology provides end to end technology solutions for the firm's Investment Banking, Sales & Trading and Risk Management business areas.

This is an opportunity to join an award winning technology team delivering a very high profile program across the front to back technology stack for Securities Processing (Equities, Fixed Income & Prime Brokerage.


The Role:

Securities Process Technology Business Analyst/Product Role

Delivering high-quality and timely solutions on the front to back platform requires strong business analysis, product knowledge, technical and problem solving skills. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in financial markets and be a subject matter expert in securities processing across Cash Equities & Fixed Income, together with having a proven track record in working on complex technology projects.

This specific role will be within an aggressive delivery team tasked with building an in-house Securities Processing technology platform globally, encompassing a Settlement Engine capable of supporting all global markets, an Asset/Stock Record, an Asset Servicing solution & a strategic Data-Warehouse to support all of the downstream requirements for Financial Accounting & Regulatory Reporting

The successful candidate will work within the Securities E2E team as a hands-on BA/product expert, who will leverage their knowledge to drive the implementation of strategic securities processing strategy. They will be a strong, hands-on business analyst, SME with a proven track record of working of large-scale technical solutions within the investment banking space.

Securities processing expertise would ideally be supplemented with an in-depth understanding of products & order management & execution flows. They will need to have an informed view on the current and future regulatory landscape and how it will impact trading & operations

The ability to bridge the gap between business and technology is paramount in this role, to drive the business forward in their objectives.

 
Key Responsibilities

  • Initial responsibility will be as a technology lead for the delivery of a Cash Equities Asset Record across all markets & legal entities
  • Project management & oversight of the deliverables & resources distributed across many different technology teams across the front to back application stack.
  • Business analyst working closely with Operations, Middle Office, Regulatory teams & compliance to define the functionality required in an Asset Record to support a Broker Dealer business.
  • Partnering with multiple operations & technology leads globally to deliver an E2E solution.
  • Gather business requirements, perform detailed analysis, and produce associated functional specifications across multiple functions.
  • Define cutover strategy from existing Asset Record to the strategic Asset Record.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management in technology, middle office & front office
  • Participation in large-scale “highly-visible” SIT/UAT testing cycles managing technology and business stakeholders
  • Training of relevant teams prior to go-live of new business processes/products, functionality or applications
  • Produce implementation approach, timelines, go-live strategy.
  • Go-live support, investigation of issues.

 

 

 

 
 
Qualifications:

Essential skills
  • Strong background of understanding end to end lifecycle of financial products (Cash Equities or Fixed Income including: order management & execution, risk management, trade capture, settlements, confirmations, legal entity flows, accounting and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to clearly define and articulate business requirements.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Confidence in communicating internally at all levels; candidate will be dealing with front office, middle office and technology teams on a daily basis who are both business and technically sophisticated
  • Ability to coherently construct and present business requirements and solution based on input from various sources
  • Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience and/or willing to be involved in the technical detail of projects and systems (Sybase, Java, Python, XML, FIX) both in terms of analysis, modelling and problem solving. Hands-on technical ability will be a key differentiator
  • Proactive, self-motivated and flexible with a positive attitude
  • Excellent team-working skills
  • Strong time management skills; efficient at multi-tasking and able to work under pressure to deliver multiple business demands on-time, to a high-level standard
  • Experience of a project life-cycle, including breaking requirements down into technical deliverables and estimating the work required
  • Experience in working with technology development teams during build and implementation phases of requirements
  • Experience in writing UAT Test Plans and/or Test Scripts, together with managing the user testing phase of projects

Desirable skills
  • Understanding /experience of challenges facing investment banking in emerging markets
  • P&L and risk management understanding an advantage
  • Hands-on technical skills

Education
  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Good years experience within similar industry area
