Job Description:

This position will report to the JP Morgan Firmwide Data Management Internal Data Use Lead (VP) and will focus on delivering a firmwide strategy on data use and establishing standards, guidance, and controls for use of JPMC data internally. The immediate focus for this candidate will be on integrating the data use function with the firmwide risk and controls process and managing BAU activities for internal data use cases.
This role involves substantial cross business interaction and a process and risk management mind set.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Ensure firmwide systemic incorporation of Data Use Principles through augmentation of existing processing, policies, standards and forums
  • Identify opportunities to improve the capture and inventory process for firmwide data use cases
  • In partnership with LOB data use teams, maintain a comprehensive inventory of firmwide internal data use cases, for consistent categorization of use case facts and risks
  • Support the data use life cycle operations for internal cases, including internal use of external data
  • Support detailed documentation of key decisions and follow ups from the data use meetings and conduct follow up with action item owners
  • Identify business process risks, and evaluate whether mitigating controls are sufficient proportional to the risk
  • Promote controls as a process improvement and risk reduction function
  • Evaluate existing internal processes to identify opportunities for increased integration/coordination to result in efficiencies and risk mitigations, including strengthening partnership with internal data analytics teams e.g. JPMIS
  • Assist in the development and socialization of firmwide guidance documents, including procedures, stakeholder engagement models, training and communications materials
  • Evaluate risks associated with shared (multi-LOB) databases and recommend mitigating controls
  • Identify opportunities to promote transparency and clear communication with customers regarding data use, including opportunities for increased customer choice
  • Assist with content creation for regular senior management updates

 

Qualifications:

 

  • BA/BS, with 4 years of strategic and project-oriented experience with a demonstrated appreciation for disciplined team and project management  
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and other stakeholders to create and manage operational policies and processes that support the goals of the business
  • Prior experience in program development or management preferred; consulting or strategy background a plus
  • Prior experience in risk assessment and controls analysis preferred
  • Prior experience in mapping process and data flows a plus
  • Inquisitive, analytical, strong problem solving and organization skills, and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently (both verbal and written)
  • Strong influencing and partnership / collaboration skills to work on cross-functional teams
  • A track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, strong work ethic, proactively setting and achieving challenging goals, ability to work independently, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
  • Excellent skills using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and SharePoint
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and inspiring leadership skills a must
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment and take different roles
