Job Description:

The Trusts & Estates (T&E) Tax practice within Wealth Management supports the T&E practice in coordination with the tax return preparations that has been outsourced to external preparers.  This position would partner closely with the T&E practice leaders to provide tax technical expertise in the interpretation and application of Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to Wealth Management clients.  This position would also collaborate with the T&E Operational Tax Lead who is responsible for vendor management and oversight of the tax return filings prepared by external preparers.
  • Subject matter expertise of tax issues impacting trusts and estates, including Federal, state and foreign tax laws, with ability to document and provide guidance and internal advice to T&E practice in a non-tax technical manner as well as ability to interface with clients, as needed, on tax-related matters
  • Ability to monitor changes in US and foreign tax legislation and collaborate with external preparers on the interpretation and application of legislative changes impacting the T&E clients
  • Working with internal partners, development and oversight of tax policies impacting tax returns filed for T&E clients
  • Collaboration with internal partners on new trust structures, review of trust documents for purposes of trust classification and other T&E policy matters
  • Ensure proper discipline around client data and regulatory requirements
  • Escalation and resolution of tax-related issues arising across T&E practice
  • Intermediary between T&E practice and external preparers for resolution of tax-related issues
  • Collaboration with Operational Tax team and external preparers on special projects such as technology solutions
  • Manage a team of tax professionals providing mentorship and career development



  • 10+ years experience in Trust and Estate tax either in the financial services industry or other professional organization.  Advanced degree or other designation preferred (MST, JD, CPA)
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work in collaborative environment with strong organizational, multitasking and prioritization skills
  • Experience managing professionals in a business environment
  • Client focused with tenacity to resolve issues and conflicts
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including excel and powerpoint
