The Chief Investment Office & Treasury together manage the structural risk of the firm. Treasury focuses on funding the firm short team and managing the firm’s liquidity and CIO manages long term structural interest rate, credit, and foreign exchange risk. The CIO & Treasury Markets Technology is part of a wider global team developing application software supporting these two businesses. The development team builds out and maintains application software to support key business functions across for portfolio management, middle office operations, and finance and risk groups.
 
Team Overview:
 
This role is part of a global team delivering new capabilities on strategic Credit Risk applications employing high performance Java and Big Data technologies. 
The team has members based in the UK, US and India.
 
There is an opportunity to expanded experience of Big Data application design and development.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Work with business analysts and technical architects to deliver the strategic technical direction of Credit Risk Applications within project delivering business functionality.
  • Interact with representatives from the business to understand their requirements
  • Design software to meet these requirements.
  • Lead remote teams of developers to deliver to these designs.  This will include working with Vendor teams.
  • Manage the deliverables of the development team.  On Agile projects this will involve working in a SCRUM Master role.
  • Interact with other technology teams within the bank to ensure project is successful.  For example interact with the teams who provide hardware infrastructure.
  • Adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing and incorporate Corporate Architectural Standards into application design specifications
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications
  • Identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues, and review and provide feedback to any required final user documentation
  • Implement all code and configuration components into test and production environments
     
     

Your Background:
 
  • 13 years + Java development experience
  • Experience of Agile development methodology, such as Scrum or XP
  • Demonstrated team lead experience
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Experience of working with offshore teams
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Demonstrated experience of defining the architecture and software design
  • Object Oriented software design
  • Strong Core Java
  • Spring, Hibernate, Tomcat, JUnit
  • Caching Technologies such as Gemfire
  • GIT/Stash, Maven, Hudson, JIRA.
  • Experience of Big Data Solutions: Hadoop, HBase, Impala, Spark
  • RDBMS:  Db2, Oracle
  • Strong SQL
  • XML, JSON, Protocol Buffers
  • Messaging – MQ/JMS/Mule/Kafka
  • Linux
  • Web Service
  • Java Multithreading, Security and Performance
     
    Desirables:
     
  • Experience of Test Driven Development
  • Drools Rules Engine
  • JSP, AJAX
  • Experience with the Financial Services industry experience is helpful, particularly in Securities Clearance.
