The Controls Room is a firmwide Reporting Utility that provides standardized control-related data and drives quicker, efficient and accurate reporting. It's an information warehouse with capabilities for reporting, visualizations and analytics. Its primary goal is to enhance control oversight and efficiency through the standardization and automation of operational risk reporting, provide access to firmwide aggregated information and produce business risk insight.

 

The Controls Room Data Strategy Lead will have a direct reporting line into Controls Room Data Strategy and Reporting Design head, located in New York.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data Governance (incl. Data Management and Data Quality)
  • Develop Data Governance guidelines in line with Firmwide data management policies and standards
  • Define Data Lineage Strategy for the domain and all supported applications
  • Participate in the identification of data to be formally designated as critical to the business and the firm overall.
  • Develop effective data management communications for internal and external constituents
  • Advocate and drive adoption of the Firmwide data management strategy, standards and processes, and thus help improve data quality across business processes and day to day operations
  • Responsible for providing input on business definitions, classification, business rules, etc.
  • Responsible for the identification of authoritative sources for critical data elements in their domain
  • Responsible to verify the authoritative source meets all criteria for designation as an authoritative data source
  • Responsible for oversight of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) throughout their lifecycle Provide subject matter expertise for Analysis and Resolution to assist the accountable CDO and Business Process Stakeholders
  • Responsible for the identification of core set of Reference & Master Data CDEs in the domain
  • Responsible for defining the data quality rules for approval by the Data Domain Executives based on the Firmwide dimensions
  • Responsible to provide specific pass/fail criteria for the business process owners to implement monitoring and testing

Data Domain Management

  • Provide coverage across the data domain and impacted LOBs.
  • Facilitate adoption of standards and capabilities within the domain, and providing input to governance and data quality processes
  • Act as the "first line of defense" for review and approval of content and data within the domain
  • Actively participate in appropriate Firmwide data governance bodies, including the Firmwide Data Management Council.
  • Responsible for identifying the relevant Business Process Stakeholders to provide additional coverage across the domain
  • Responsible for representing the LOB within the Domain Working Group to ensure the LOB’s needs and requirements are appropriately met
  • Responsible for understanding, disseminating and adopting applicable policies, standards and processes corresponding to the data domain
  • Manage the daily operations within the domain, responsible for reviewing and approving the deliverables.
  • A minimum 10 years of financial services work experience
  • Strong background and understand of big data environment and tools
  • Proven track record of strong people management & team leadership
  • Excellent communication skills; able to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on audience
  • Ability to be effective in a Global operating environment and a matrix management organization
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues, desire to learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically
  • Strong background in production reporting and operations including information management and Quality Assurance
  • Excellent data management skills are key, including the ability to manage large/complex data sets
  • Strong track record of participation in large-scale and complex technology projects
  • Strong background in, and familiarity with, the LOB’s core businesses or core Corporate functions would be beneficial
  • Financial services industry experience with specific experience in data analysis, reporting and/or controls
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, effective under pressure and willing to take personal risk and accountability
  • Strong skills in time management and problem solving
