Job Description:
Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the Firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner.
 
The Strategy and Solution Architecture (SSA) team within GTI has a mission is to generate application infrastructure designs based on the Firm’s businesses, applications and infrastructure partner’s current and future requirements. A strong drive of the team will be on standardization via adoption of GTI managed services, resiliency in designs to meet stated recovery objectives, and address performance, scalability, security and data protection objectives. The Process and Change team within SSA owns business office functions, design processes and tools, and infrastructure data management, 3 critical functions.
 
This role is for an Information Architect who will be perform data modelling and enforce data architecture standards.
 
Primary responsibilities: 
  • Design new/changing data structures in the Global Technology environment
  • Help develop the Logical Data Model for Technology Infrastructure at the firm
  • Help define and maintain Critical Data Elements in conjunction with the Infrastructure Data Stewards
  • Help support the Data Quality function and assist in the definition of data quality rules for infrastructure.
  • Help define and manage the list of systems of record and authoritative data sources
  • Help GTI migrate to a ‘Data Reservoir’ architecture
  • Enforce data architecture standards by
    • leading and mentoring other Global Technology colleagues
    • documenting standards and best practices for use across the firm, providing training, tools, and oversight
    • supporting new application governance
    • ensure conformation to the firm wide data standards such as
      • Logical & Physical Data Models
      • Sourcing from Systems of Record / Authoritative Data Sources
      • Data Sourcing Contracts
  • Reduce the risk of implementing new/changing data structures in the JPM Chase environment
  • Ensure that all technology directions create a positive customer experience

Soft skills/attributes required for this role:

  • Experienced Information/Data Architect
  • Worked in a large complex organization before, has experience of addressing data at another large firm
  • Experience working closely with senior AD architects and other Chief IAs across the firm
  • Credible and mature personality
  • Strong enough to hold your peers accountable in other groups/towers (in a constructive way)
  • Good communicator – able to translate detail into a concise story, getting immediately to the punch line

Hard Skills / Requirements:

  • Strong data modelling skills
    • Knows how to model data and manage it at scale effectively
    • Experience of one or more data modelling tools
    • Experience with a number of data modelling techniques
    • Maintain/Enhance data modelling toolkit to ensure flawless delivery of data architecture
  • Strong Data Architecture experience
    • Knowledge of Data Warehousing / Data Lake / Business Intelligence strategies and architecture
    • Strong metadata experience
    • Design, model and implement data solutions to meet the business needs and risk tolerance criteria of the firm
  • Strong Data Governance experience
    • Ensure changes to the data environment generated by the department are compatible and compliant to the architectural standards
    • Maintain/Enhance data design process within Software Development Lifecycle working with the Firmwide Chief Development Office
  • Strong communication / collaboration skills
    • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively and efficiently through the department
    • Meet regularly with other Information Architects to review/enhance Information Architecture policies across the firm
    • Review the designs of other Information Architects to ensure cohesive integral data design across the firm
    • Partner with Data Stewards to identify Authoritative Data Sources
