The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis.


The CIB CAO Planning & Analysis group provides accurate and timely analysis on the financial performance of the CIB and it business units. The group has global responsibility for budgeting and analysis of compensation and non-compensation expenses. This function includes coordination across front office, support groups, corporate groups, and other LOBs. Financial presentations are regularly prepared for senior management and the CIB Operating Committee.


The Financial P&A Vice President oversees the reporting needs of CIB CAO Senior Management, Business Management, and other entities.  The role has a high level of interaction with the CIB Technology & Operations CFO, Business Managers, and cross-business Planning and Analysis teams.  The candidate must be able to organize, and deliver monthly and ad hoc requests and quickly define views that prompt decisions by Senior Management.  The role demands superior analytical skills, presentation skills, technical abilities and flexibility.


The candidate should have good  experience in providing monthly financial analysis that highlights key drivers and dependencies impacting results and the overall health of the organization.  The candidate should also have experience collaborating with high-performing teams, a good working knowledge of financial systems and processes, as well as experience with managing extremely large data-sets and using aggregation tools to consolidate data into meaningful reporting views.  Candidate should have familiarity with streamlining reporting processes to minimize delivery timelines.


Responsibilities will include the oversight of monthly allocations, analysis of all centrally produced financial management reporting (actual and plan) for CIB Chief Administration Office, assisting in annual budgeting and strategic planning, designing, establishing, and maintaining an efficient and effective MIS infrastructure to support delivery of management information, and oversight and assistance in ad hoc projects. 


Responsibilities Include but not limited to:


  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses for management meetings and strategic reviews (e.g., Operating Committee Review, Regional Business and Finance Townhall, Investor Day, etc.)
  • Build models for forecasting and ad hoc analysis leveraging large data sets
  • Assist in the production of the monthly Executive Management Report and Weekly Activity Report which provide senior management with detailed information on monthly financials, trends and business outlook to assist in key business decisions
  • Participate in the global annual planning process for expenses and  headcount involves financial modeling, coordinating and consolidating submissions from CFO teams as well as preparing management presentations
  • Work with various Essbase, Hyperion and database interfaces to manage reporting changes.
  • Contribute ideas around improving reporting capabilities and new projects
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills – MS Excel proficiency working knowledge required, MS Access and Essbase a plus
  • Capable of completing reporting and analytics accurately under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented, organized, ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly, while maintaining control with limited supervision
  • Desire to learn the technical aspects of expense management and forecasting and be able to trouble shoot
  • Highly motivated team player with positive attitude and focus on business issues

Successful candidate must demonstrate the following qualities:

 Key Skills
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in Finance, with prior Planning and analysis experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel and Access, as well as the ability to master the JPM internal financial systems (SAPCO, FDW, Paragon, Essbase, CIB Reporting)
  • Clear communication skills, and the ability to articulate complex issues concisely
  • Experience with management reporting, management information systems
  • BA in Finance / Accounting
  • MBA a plus and Accounting certification, a plus
