Job Description:
An Oil and Gas Closing Officer in J.P. Morgan’s Specialty Assets Middle Office is integral in servicing fiduciary clients holding oil, gas, and mineral interest.  The focus of this position is on the administration and operational aspects of account closings and requires a strong understanding of the industry as well as closing activities required to appropriately transfer ownership of oil, gas, and mineral interests.  A successful candidate will:
  • Work closely with JPMorgan settlements and estate officers to ensure timely processing and communication of closing materials.
  • Work with third party vendors, mineral managers, trust and estate settlement officers, and oil and gas companies to research, resolve, and process transfers of ownership.
  • Prepare and report the closing status of accounts managed.
  • Perform additional closing related activities as defined by manager.
  • Follow appropriate policies and procedures to insure the firm fulfills its fiduciary responsibilities in accordance with the applicable governing documents and law.

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience (3-5 years of oil and gas land research, management, operational or closing experience working in a team environment).
  • Extremely knowledgeable of oil and gas title and transfer processes and industry research tools.
  • Strong time and risk management skills.
  • Ability to take ownership and be accountable.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities, simultaneously.
  • Aptitude for analyzing issues and information accurately and demonstrating effective issue resolution and decision-making skills (fact based decisions).
  • Flexible with a “can do” approach.
  • Ability to work effectively with all lines of management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
