Description
GTI Core Server Support (CSS) is responsible for service support and delivery for JPMorgan Chase's (JPMC) Global Technology Infrastructure. Through its Global Service Desk and Infrastructure Operations Centers, SO provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services, while its Production Assurance and Support functions leverage and execute industry leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.
 
Job Description:
 
In the role UNIX (Linux) SA for the GSO CSS UNIX, you will provide expertise in supporting technical solutions for infrastructure change of varying size and complexity based on Red Hat Linux, AIX & Solaris UNIX platforms. You will use your deep technical skills to support a fast-paced customer base to ensure smooth and successful execution of change in complex environments.  An understanding of all aspects of system change for all operating systems will be essential. 
Roles & Responsibilities(Team)
 
Respond and resolve Linux/Solaris incident tickets generated via automation and customer submission
Respond to customer request and inquiries via the UNIX hotline
Provide timely and accurate updates to incident tickets as required
Execute tasks clearly documenting through the change management system
Execute daily system validation and health checks; execute runbooks scripts as documents
Liaise and triage with other Infrastructure, AD, and Operate teams to mitigate and remediate incidents
Execute fundamental escalation and other operational procedures; adhere to operational practices and policies.
 
Technical Skills 
 
Primary Skills
3 - 5 years of experience in  RedHat Enterprise  4.x, 5.x 6.x, 7x
3 - 5 years of experience in Sun Solaris 8, 9, 10
Preferred experience with VERITAS cluster/ Linux cluster
Ability to identify and diagnose Storage Technology performance issues (read I/O stat, etc.)
Some programming knowledge with Perl, Python, Shell scripting a plus
Working experience with network topology – TCP/IP Network issues; diagnose interface status
Some familiarity with Administration of Unix core peripheral services such as NIS, NFS, automount, DNS, DHCP, Samba, SendMail, Apache, NTP, sudo, Jumpstart/Kickstart, LDAP, SSH, and KEON

Must be willing to learn new technology; implement and execute operational best practices
Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills to drive problems to successful conclusion.
Must be a self-starter; possess good verbal and written communication skills.
