Job Description:

The Documentation and Closing Supervisor in Commercial Real Estate Loan Administration oversees a group of senior level Loan Closers that support the New Market Tax Credit, and the Community Development Banking lines of business at JPMorgan Chase.  The Documentation and Closing group administers a demanding portfolio of diverse commercial construction loans encompassing tax credits, equity investments, low income hosing components, bond enhanced/direct pay letters of credit, perm-loan conversions, and development loans with single and multi-bank collaboration.  The group experiences robust interaction with legal counsel.  High analytical capabilities reviewing due diligence items necessary for loan closing, risk detection, managing diplomacy with customers/bankers/attorneys on policy components of loan documents, proficiency in commercial loan documentation, entity structure, maintaining a loan closing database, and performing on multi-platform technology systems is a vital requisite of the group.


The Documentation and Closing Supervisor governs the demands of the group as described above, oversees pipeline assignments, quality assurance and control, safeguards production standards, and is periodically responsible for closing loans as prescribed.  The position provides support to the Manager, requires participation in various department projects, is involved in writing procedures, department guidelines, and is engaged in market/partnership meetings to develop and maintain solid business relations.  The ability to examine commercial loan booking packages for accuracy, authorize the release of loan funds, and related financial transactions is essential.  The qualified candidate must possess experience in leadership; effective communication; be detailed and quality assurance oriented; capable of working multiple initiatives simultaneously; and work collaboratively across teams within the Bank.

Qualifications and Core Responsibilities:                                      

  • 3 - 5 years experience in managing people.

  • Ability to directly address conflicts, and escalate issues.

  • Experience with employee coaching, and development.

  • Ability to maximize the performance and potential of team members.

  • Experience in diplomacy with customers/bankers/attorneys.

  • Direct experience with closing Commercial Real Estate Loans.

  • Direct experience with commercial loan documentation, and entity structures.

  • Comprehension of Loan Servicing and Construction Management process.

  • Ability to examine and authorize commercial loan booking requests and financial transactions.

  • Management of and adherence to quality standards, SLA and Quality Assurance.

  • Strong written, verbal communication skills and adherence to discipline.

  • Ability to present complex topics in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with departments at all levels of the organization.

  • Experienced with Business Applications and Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Ability to adapt to a changing business environment, quickly assess situations.

  • Ability to manage project assignments and/or processes in support of broader functional strategy.

  • Result driven, attention to detail, passion for driving best practices, and skilled at diplomatically breaking down barriers and obstacles.
