The Private Investments (PI) business sits within the CIO, Treasury and Corporate (CTC) line of business, and brings together the Strategic and Heritage Private Equity Investing activities of the firm into a single center of investing excellence. PI has approximately 40 professionals (both Front Office and Finance and Business Management) located in New York, Chicago, London and Hong Kong.

Strategic Investments works closely with all the Lines of Business (LOBs), acting as a central resource to help identify, diligence, structure, negotiate, close, monitor and divest investments. Heritage Private Equity holds approximately $1.5 billion AUM and the Finance team oversees fund and partnership accounting, distribution management, treasury services, tax support services, waterfall/carry calculations, financial and regulatory reporting, and corporate entity administration and domiciliation services.

The PI Technology and Data Manager will have a dual mandate:

  • To work closely with the PI investment professionals and the Finance and Business Management team to accurately maintain and monitor financial and reference data related to the firm’s 200+ equity investments.  PI houses this data in iLevel, a 3rd party data management platform which was rolled out in 2017.  Key activities include review and maintenance of all data elements across investments, report writing and production based on business requirements, enhancing iLevel portal reports to empower investment professionals and management to view data easily, and implementing the iVal functionality to automate aspects of the portfolio valuation process.  The individual will also be responsible for ensuring strategic investments’ reference data is accurately reflected in other firm-wide reference data systems including GEMS and PRIME, building processes and working with relevant data owners as necessary
  • To review new technology tools that would improve efficiencies across the PI business and implement across the team.  Examples of technology that have recently been or will be used include Symphony, ECM Chime, and Atheneum. The individual should have a natural curiosity regarding technology which would be useful for the team and be adept at managing the implementation of new technology tools.
  • Review and maintenance of reference data in iLevel to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Maintenance and enhancements of iLevel portal reports
  • Implement enhancements of iLevel, including the iVal functionality
  • Ensure reference data is accurately reflected in other firm-wide reference data systems
  • Report writing and build out of new reporting based on business requirements
  • Review of new technology tools that would be useful to PI and able to project manage the implementation of such tools

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science
  • Minimum of five years of business experience
  • Working knowledge of iLevel and/or relational databases
  • Experience managing the implementation and onboarding of management reporting systems
  • Knowledge of private equity investing and valuation practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and adjust priorities as needed
  • Detail oriented and extremely organized
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with people at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
