Job Description
 

Vice President, Guideline Management Control Team, Japan

 

As VP in the Guideline Management Control (“GMC”) team in Japan, you will be part of a global team of professionals operating in locations across the US, EMEA and ASIA ensuring adherence and compliance with investment directives. 

 

This role reports to Asia Head of GMC in HK and aligned to the Global Head of GMC based in US as well as having local report line in Japan.

 

The GMC team supports all of J.P. Morgan Investment Management’s multi asset class capability.

 

The person will assume a hands-on role within the GMC Group’s activities and work closely with the rest of the team and senior management to help problem solve, identify opportunities for improvement and drive strategic direction. This role will have people management responsibility.

 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Guideline Management Control
  • Conduct monitoring and coding with compliance system investment guidelines, regulations, and business control. And make appropriate escalation to comply all the guidelines.
  • Involve Guideline Management team in Japan performing day-to-day activities
  • Work closely with the Fund Managers and relevant parties to provide daily result for their ongoing business requirements
  • Working with colleagues from Investment Director, Oversight & Control, and Compliance to ensure sound controls are in place and are followed accordingly
  • Involve GMC Projects driven initiatives within global and local strategic roadmap.
Analysis & Problem Solving
  • Supporting and conducting clear analysis, logical structuring, and creative problem solving on critical issues
  • Proactively identifying and addressing risks and opportunities relating to GMC as a whole or specific projects
Communication & Relationships
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicating recommendations to impacted stakeholders
  • Escalating critical issues with a focus on resolution
People Management
  • Manage a team of 3-4 guideline professionals
  • Coach and develop talents in the team
  • Improve global and regional connections
Qualifications
 

We are looking for highly motivated candidates who are able to demonstrate a good understanding of Investment Compliance within financial services. 

  • Fluency in English and Japanese
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken, be able to deliver key messages to senior colleagues in straight-forward manner
  • Comfortable to perform routine tasks as required
  • Proven people management experience
  • Experience working in global organization
  • Team player with ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative manner, as well as ability to manage prioritization with logical mind to reach accomplishment.
  • Ability to build relationships, respecting inclusion and diversity, and interact effectively across multiple different locations
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Possess analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to make sound judgment,
  • Effective organization, prioritization and time management skills, able to work to meet deadlines
  • Have knowledge of equity, fixed income, derivatives products, or currency markets gained from experience in investment management are preferable.
  • Have knowledge of investment, regulation, or guideline monitoring is preferred.
