J.P. Morgan’s Custody and Fund Services business is comprised of Custody, Accounting, Transfer Agency, Middle Office outsourcing, Foreign Exchange, and other activities related to servicing assets for traditional and alternative funds; it leverages its scale and capabilities in more than 100 markets to help clients optimize efficiency, mitigate risk and enhance revenue through a broad range of investor services as well as securities clearance, collateral management and alternative investment services.

Function Overview

The goal of Document management program is to utilize innovative solutions such as OCR, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to deliver an improved end to end Document Management solution for the business.  The end to end workflow will include creation, capture, storage, retention, search and retrieval of documents related to client identification, relationships and transactions whilst leveraging data science to deliver insights to our internal stakeholders to help better manage the overall Investor Services Business. The overall Platform provides solutions towards content management and management of structured and unstructured data including storage and management of images and provides comprehensive search technology across CIB. With a number of opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy, there is a strong focus from the senior leadership to deliver step change improvements in 2018 and beyond making this a high impact, high exposure program.

Primary responsibilities for this role include:
  • Product Development: Leadership for the Document Management Target Operating Model design and delivery – including product strategy definition, build vs. buy analysis, development and execution.
  • Innovation: Engage in-house Machine Learning Center of Excellence and  FinTech for cognitive identification and extraction of information from documents
  • Partnership: Work closely with leads from across the business including Legal, Onboarding, to understand pain points and design the best target solution to meet stakeholder needs.  Subsequently, provide status updates to Senior Leadership and the broader working group
  • In addition, this person must have good communication skills to be able to initiate white-papers and present in group forums

The product development role for Document Management is a crucial role. This person will partner closely with the global members of the Client & Service Platform teams and with Technology, Operations, Data-scientists and Client Service to deliver the product.

Competencies - Skills and qualities needed
  • Very good understanding of Product Development responsibilities and approaches to deliver products that surprise and delight our clients
  • Good understanding of emerging technologies in OCR, data science, machine learning and cognitive
  • Experience with document storage, meta-data and indexing
  • Good understanding of legal documents, how they’re structured, and the relationships between legal clauses
  • Disciplined approach to control  and process management
  • Strong project management capabilities. Certification in one of the program management skills is a plus
  • Strong understanding of how to deliver an end to end operating model with technology as a major component
  • Ability to analyze business models/practices
  • Understanding of Agile and be able to perform key Product Owner functions
  • Track record of partnership across multiple stakeholders
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter and able to prioritize effectively
  • Ideally, someone that has a mix of technology (digital product owner, fintech engagement or technology development) and legal capabilities
Academic Background          

Ideal candidate for this position would be a graduate/post-graduate from a premier college or institute.

  • Bachelors in business, law, or engineering (preferably: computer science or electronics)
  • Masters in Business, Law, or Science
