Wealth Management EMEA ex-Suisse Regional Credit Executive

Position Description
  • Manage a team of Credit Executives and Underwriters and matrix-manage the activities of Legal Entity Risk Managers with credit approval authority
  • Manage the EMEA Onshore Credit Risk Portfolio (including all business booked in J.P. Morgan International Bank Ltd and Wealth Management activity booked in JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., Paris Branch) within acceptable quality and loss criteria
  • Approve credit risk exposure relating to the EMEA Onshore client base within authorised limits
  • Responsible for the accurate, timely and consistent assignment of risk ratings for all clients and collateral
  • Ensure all credit exposure is structured, documented and approved in accordance with J.P. Morgan Credit Policy
  • Monitor all Exception Reports produced by Credit Middle Office, approve resolution plans and escalate potential problems immediately
  • Identify names promptly to be added to the Watch List or Criticised & Classified loans (“C&C”)
  • Advise bankers, lenders, and investors on credit risk management of Watch List and C&C accounts and manage the Credit Surveillance Reporting process
  • Work closely with all other Control Functions and understand the potential impact on the credit portfolio of other types of risk including, but not limited to, Market, Liquidity, Operating, and Reputation Risk. Establish contacts with other line of business Credit Risk teams
  • Identify and escalate gaps or inconsistencies in policies and procedures which may impact the Credit Risk portfolio
  • Play lead role in supervising the quality of the Credit Risk portfolio:
    • Provide feedback on analysis, due diligence, credit presentation
    • Approve credit transactions and risk ratings within authority
    • Identify and monitor concentrations, trends and themes in the portfolio
    • Direct the preparation of Portfolio Reviews
  • Partner with the Business in developing products, markets, revenue by:
    • Representing Credit Risk in NBIA process
    • Advising bankers, lenders, and investors of Credit Risk appetite
    • Ensuring we have appropriate tax and legal opinions, and collateral confidence, in new initiatives
  • Responsible for chairing and/or attending the following:
    • Chair quarterly JPMCB Paris Credit Committee
    • Rotating chair of fortnightly global WM Credit Risk Policy & Consistency Forum
    • Attend quarterly WM EMEA Risk Committee
    • Attend quarterly JPMIB Capital Committee
    • Attend WM Credit Risk portfolio forums covering risk control, credit cost, quality assurance, and quality testing
    • Attend WM EMEA (ex-Suisse) Reputation Risk Committee, as needed
  • Provide support and cover for the EMEA Head of Risk for Wealth Management
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong leadership, management and business partnership skills
  • Good communication skills, spoken and written
  • High level of analytical skills, including financial analysis
  • Attention to detail and ability to consistently follow Credit Policy
  • Ability to analyze credit structures and the attendant credit risks
  • Familiarity and expertise with multi-jurisdictional legal documentation
  • Experience of complex cross-border credit and derivatives transactions
  • Ability to understand the business and market context
  • Formal credit training required with experience and familiarity of all risk types including, but not limited to, Market, Liquidity, Operating, and Reputation Risk
  • Ability to interact well with clients, senior colleagues and juniors
  • Ability and willingness to coach and train junior Lending Advisors
  • Knowledge of integrated wealth management (for example, generational planning structures and solutions, portfolio theory/asset allocation, markets) is preferred
  • Fluency in English is essential, a second European language is preferable
