Innovation is about changing the way we think and work.    As we innovate products and services to help our clients succeed, we are also innovating the way we approach performance management to help our employees excel.    Performance Development (PD) is intended to be an ongoing, collaborative effort between managers and their people, with a focus on individual growth and improvement. We’re building new tools and technology aligned to a multi-year +enablement strategy   to support an enhanced experience.
The Performance Development Center of Excellence (PD CoE)   team is rolling out a new approach firmwide in 2018 that is based on year-round coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. It’s a big change for most of the firm – both philosophically and operationally. As a result, we’ve built an extensive change management strategy that focuses on upskilling employees, encouraging all to think and do things differently when it comes to Performance Development, and ensuring the operational elements of the new approach roll out smoothly and successfully. Throughout 2018 we’ll be implementing lots of stakeholder engagement and learning activities, as well as ‘surround-sound’ marketing and communications and ongoing review/analysis of feedback and metrics.
In addition to a strategic engagement and change management strategy, performance development is supported by two tools:
  • MyDevelopment for employees and managers to collaborate on priorities, track progress and feedback through check-ins and write the annual review
  • Insight360 for employees to ask for, give and get feedback to anyone anytime
Role Overview:
This new VP position is a Product Owner of MyDevelopment, one of several team members on the PD CoE. and is responsible for the end-to-end strategy, development, implementation, maintenance, and sustainability of this tool.  This tool is designed to support 240,000 employees across JPMC by providing a platform to support on-going, collaborative conversations between employee and manager.  It has several features and also supports the dynamic, matrix organizational structures and regulatory and legal requirements.
In this position, you will partner with senior stakeholders, HR colleagues and other team members on the design and implementation strategy of this new tool to create an enhanced experience for employees, managers and HR team by:
  • Assessing  and prioritizing the end user needs,  business requests and regulatory considerations
  • Collaborating  with stakeholders, technology partners and HR colleagues
  • Identifying, determining and planning integration opportunities with other talent practices/tools
Assess employee and business needs/requests and understand market trends
  • Be aware of and align with JPMC’s firmwide performance development and Human Resources strategy
  • Research market trends  to influence strategy design on innovative tools, solutions and processes
  • Engage directly with HR, Managers and Employees to understand their needs and champion technology functionality that delivers an enhanced user experience
    Collaborate with stakeholders, partners and end users
  • Lead the design, build, test and enhance new technology solutions and functionality
  • Define, develop, adapt, and convey the technology roadmap to  enhance future functionality
  • Assess, prioritize and communicate strategy and requirement decisions, including  saying “no”
  • Identify stakeholders and facilitate collaboration between them
  • Partner with internal teams that service and support MyDevelopment
    Own the end-to-end lifecycle (design, implementation, servicing and sustainability) for this tool
  • Understand “agile” system development methodology and terminology to develop, verify and accept new functionality built through stories,  sprints, waves and epics
  • Determine what should be delivered, clarify business requests and prioritize core requirements with an integrated view of the full end user workflow
  • Research issues  / defects  and remediate with long term solutions
Human Resources Experience
  • Seasoned HR professional (minimum of 7 years) with experience with global, long term view to ideation, implementation and management of a large scale project or program; ideal with some experience  or knowledge in system development life cycle
  • Working knowledge of the various HR Processes and an ability to link HR Strategy to business goals
  • Strong interest in the performance and talent management practices
    Interpersonal Leadership Skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with both business users and technical users
  • Communicate vision and intent, deferring detailed features and design decisions to be made just in time
  • Highly consultative and collaborative and can marshal diverse views across businesses, regions and levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to present to varying levels of management
  • Thought leader with practical decision-making ability to deliver precise, accurate and detailed technology solutions
Analytical Skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using technology and/or integrating diverse user systems  
  • Identify problems as opportunities and to manage well under pressure and are able to deal  with ambiguity, with a bias toward simplicity and action
Project Management
  • Manage multiple projects, complex activities, and competing deadlines
  • Strong project planning and governance using standard industry tools
  • Given a variety of conflicting goals and opinions, be the final decision maker for hard decisions related to this tool
  • Exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques integrating diverse and global needs and interests
Technical Skills
  • Strong blend of technical capability, problem solving, change agent and business savvy
  • Passion to understand workforce trends and changes across industries and best-in-class companies; and determine what and how to incorporate into future design
  • Working knowledge using MS Word, Excel,  Power Point and working knowledge of Business Objects/Database Management, is a plus
