The APAC Legal  team is looking to recruit a lawyer to join the team.  The role is based in Singapore and will report locally, with substantial engagement with JP Morgan’s Global Cyber Legal team.
The APAC legal team is looking to recruit a lawyer to join the team.  The role is based in Singapore and will report to Christian Gordon-Pullar, Executive Director, APAC Legal Technology, Intellectual Property and Cyber (in Singapore) and Pete Marta, Executive Director, Lead Counsel for JPM Global Cybersecurity (in NY) for Cybersecurity related matters.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Act as the Lead Lawyer for Cybersecurity matters in APAC and in this capacity to:
  • provide technology and cyber legal advice and counsel to internal clients (e.g., Global Cybersecurity, Line of Business Technology, Global Security & Investigations) and partners (e.g., line of business Legal, M&A Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Risk, Controls); and
  • participate in and advise on cybersecurity legal issues as part of firm-wide strategic initiatives;
Secondary Responsibilities
  • act as Point of Contact (POC) for various legal technology controls forum;
  • be responsible for analyzing new Tech and Cyber, Data offshoring, on-shoring and cloud regulations and advising on contractual implications and coordinating legal response (i.e. LOB or country legal, Practice Groups Heads) to these regulations;
  • act as the POC for Supplier Oversight Services (SOS) to coordinate all legal inputs to regulatory RFIs responses;
  • analyze regulatory changes across APAC that impact vendor MSA templates across the various APAC markets that are relevant to JPMorgan;
  • review, amend or propose changes to templates (across all LOBs) as a result of cyber and outsourcing regulatory or policy changes (including those introduced at a global level);
  • coordinate legal inputs to SOS and compliance updates to Senior Country Business Managers (SCBM) in APAC as part of the monthly CAO and SCBM tracking;
  • act as POC with the Office of Legal obligations Program and Senior Country Counsel for tech, offshoring and outsourcing regulations;
  • work closely with the APAC Legal teams to assist in timely reporting for risk committees, cyber and technology requirements; and
  • participating in global legal projects in connections with any of the foregoing responsibilities.
  • a qualified lawyer with 6-8 years PQE;
  • relevant transactional, cybersecurity, and/or privacy experience in a government agency, law firm or corporate law department (in-house experience in the financial services industry and/or technology industry desirable);
  • interest and familiarity and with the latest Tech and Digital developments (e.g. DLT, blockchain, cybersecurity, communication apps etc.);
  • excellent communication skills (Mandarin proficiency preferred);
  • experience and familiarity in dealing with cross-border and international projects;
  • strong record of transaction management and execution; and
  • experience advising on large, complex, multi-line of business, regulated client organizations desirable;
  • familiarity with privacy issues, third and fourth party contracting, outsourcing, offshoring, contracting and related regulatory and risk environments.
