Department: Product Control
 
Product controllers are an independent control function responsible for the accuracy and integrity of Line of Business (LOB) books and records. The key control functions and responsibilities of a controller in Custody and Fund Services includes monthly P&L substantiation, assisting with the month-end close process in partnership with Financial Control and Legal Entity Controllers as well as ensuring the integrity of the US GAAP General Ledger, LOB submissions and representations in external Regulatory filings including 10Q/10K, and Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) policy application and calculation. Additionally, the product control function works with the business to help optimize RWA and Capital, Balance sheet usage, CIB Treasury funding and the impact of Regulatory reform.
 
Product controllers in the CIB are aligned to LOB’s and report to their respective LOB Global Controller. The team works with Product, Sales & Marketing, Business Managers, Financial Control, Business Control Officers, Legal Entity Control, Market Risk, Operations and Technology to maintain a strong control environment.

Role Description
The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the Global Liquidity Product Control team within CFS  The team is responsible for providing business advisory and accounting support, control oversight and integrity of the product revenue and end-to-end control. The team plays an instrumental role in creating the budget, forward-looking forecasts and analysis of the financial results to the business as well as senior CIB stakeholders. The candidate will serve as a key partner to the business head, regulators and senior finance management regarding the economic, accounting and reporting impacts of the changing environment. The role will require the candidate to take the lead in developing new reporting tools and frameworks.
 
Sample of key responsibilities:
  • Reporting
    • In-depth understanding of the product, balance sheet and revenue.
    • Responsible for business commentary and revenue forecasting.
    • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
    • Develop P&L analysis and explain framework for Deposit NII.
  • MIS
    • Preparation of monthly management MIS reporting packages to senior business managers.
    • Client profitability reporting as required by business
    • Working with the business to report and develop Key Performance Indicators
  • Regulatory
    • Understanding of regulatory reforms impacting the business and the potential cost of those changes to the business
    • SOX compliance and testing for the LOB finance function
    • Ensure compliance with LOB specific External Reporting required of Finance
  • New Business/Projects
    • Review and analysis of NBIAs and completion of the Finance sections
    • Working with business heads to develop adequate financial reporting and measurement tools as business expands and grows.
    • Identification for continuous improvement of controls, processes and efficiency
    • Drive the delivery of strategic initiatives (P&L aggregator, firm-wide strategic budgeting and forecasting tool)
  • Management and Influencing
    • Responsible for a global team of six individuals.
    • Representing CFS Product Control in firm-wide initiatives and forums as it pertains to Deposit revenues, balances and infrastructure.
    • Liaising with cross functional leads ie Product (front office), Sales, CIB and Corporate Treasury, Credit, Risk, Legal, Compliance, BCO, Operations, Treasury Services.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Degree qualified - ideally a numerate degree
  • Proven people manager
  • Enthusiastic and able to motivate teams and drive change
  • Good financial product knowledge
  • Ability to work effectively, meet challenging deadlines and to work under pressure
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude - ability to identify and solve problems independently
