The Alternative Investments Group is responsible for the selection and monitoring of alternative asset managers for Global Wealth Management clients. This will include communications with asset managers, internal investment specialists, and clients considering the use of an alternative asset manager within an investment program.  Managers include multiple asset classes across hedge funds, private equity funds, private credit funds, and real estate funds.  The team is global with professionals based in New York, London, Geneva, Hong Kong and Singapore and works closely with the asset class leaders, portfolio construction, investment team leaders and the entire integrated client team in building and maintaining the full product suite.
 
The Alternative Investments Specialist will:
  • Be a member of the Alternative Investments Group, working with US-based Investors and Bankers in the Central and West regions, as well as directly with clients.
  • Articulate how the manager selection process functions and how both external and proprietary strategies fit the Global Wealth Management strategy for internal and external audiences.
  • Lead the coordination of information with bankers through the JPM network on all client matters in partnership with Alternatives Investor Relations and other supporting groups.
  • Explain how alternative asset managers fit within a broader investment portfolio while being able to speak broadly across both alternative and traditional asset classes.
  • Be responsible for the development and growth of a region of the US in conjunction with the regional Alts team as well as broadly cover the US Alternatives business, engaging with senior management to help make strategic business decisions.
  • Work with clients to implement alternative investments as part of their diversified multi-asset class portfolios.
  • Help to write and develop marketing plans and messaging for hedge funds and private investments funds.
  • Analyze client alternative investment portfolios and help to make investment recommendations in conjunction with investors and private bankers.
  • Travel extensively, sometimes accompanied by Fund managers, to regional offices and events.
The attributes of the Alternative Investments Specialist include:
  • Specific knowledge of, and hands-on product experience in, alternative investments, including hedge funds, private equity, private credit and real estate.
  • Sales experience within a capital markets environment preferred.
  • The ability to convey knowledge and credibility in front of the managers and investors. 
  • 6-10 years of experience in investment sales.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
