As a member of the Structuring Technology Team within Equity Derivatives Group (EDG) based in Hong Kong, the successful candidate will drive the analysis, design and implementation of a strategic new platform for the Structured Equity Finance Trading (SEFT) business
 
Structured Equity Financing provides term, non-recourse financing against:
  • Margin Loans (public equities or pre-IPO stakes)
  • Hedge funds (Single and Fund of Funds)
  • Private equity funds and/or co-investments
 
High level mandate for this role and the team globally are:
  • Develop Tools & Platform that enable the desk to be more productive:
    • Share information and collaborate across region and products.
    • Reduce the marginal cost/overhead of analyzing and executing a transaction
    • Improve Controls and manage Operational Risks of a Complex Business
  • Adopt and deploy consistent business practice across regions with the Tech Tools to support it
    • Standardize the use of Tools, Analytics, Reports & Trading Tools across locations
    • Ensure that functionality does not diverge regionally
 
The desk relies of a suite of analytic tools to trade and monitor deals. For example, one of the high priorities is to build a front to back workflow to manage:
  • Database of stakes on a stock of interest
  • History of relevant information
  • Disclosures & Filings
  • Database of all related derivative trades
This involves heavy data analytics and demands a high degree of comfort with large sets of unstructured data (document DB, NoSQL etc.)
               
The team will be leveraging on ATHENA:
  • Powerful in-house framework for the development of Tools, Analytics & GUI’s
  • Primarily using PYTHON/Angular/REST for development
  • Leverage, Re-use Tools & Functionality from a large community of Athena Developers
  • Fast, agile development with continuous deployment
 
This is a good opportunity for a strong developer to build a new suite of client facing (high visibility) using a tech stack that is state of the art.
 
 
The ideal candidate will be:
  • A proven problem solver, proactive in nature and comfortable working in an environment where tight deadlines are the norm.
  • Strong communicator and comfortable asking and being asked questions. 
  • Solid  programming experience is a must – Python preferable but Java is highly desirable too
  • Experience with Web Development (HTML5 / Javascript / Angular / REST etc)
  • Experience of full project lifecycle, breaking requirements down into technical deliverables and effort estimation.
  • Ability to work effectively within a global team, whilst influencing and contributing towards the development of the global platform.
  • Experience of stakeholder management with the ability to challenge the status quo and propose alternatives
