Position Overview
The Product Manager will join an elite, entrepreneurial and collegial team within JP Morgan's Corporate Investment Bank's (CIB), reporting locally into the Asia Markets Execution – Digital Product and Services team.
The Markets Execution - Digital Product and Services group provides ownership and oversight of applications across the entire lifecycle – Pre-Trade, Trading and Post-Trade. The incumbent will work on the Platform Management and Controls agenda and will be required to maintain a strong focus on the Legal & Compliance aspects of rolling new products and platforms within the digital ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Product Responsibilities for Asia:
The right candidate will concentrate on the Asian portion of this model, with the following responsibilities:
  • Drive multiple, often concurrent, cross-product and platform-wide strategy initiatives, by quickly building competence in new areas.
  • Build critical relationships across functions and management levels and ensuring successful execution.
  • Partner with a core team of strategy, product, sales, marketing, operations and technology colleagues across businesses and functions to help with critical decision making through internal analysis, competitive landscape review and market research
  • Understand clients wants and needs and translate into actionable product development initiatives
  • Facilitate cross-asset sharing of best practices
Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities:
The right candidate will help define a consistent approach and partner with global product managers on the compliance and regulatory approvals for applications that cut across Pre-Trade, Trading and Post-Trade. Asia compliance, regulatory and legal responsibilities would include:
  • Within the Markets Execution space, help guide the Asia legal & compliance sign-offs required for platform functionality and marketing material. The candidate would own and drive the process to conclusion for core cross-functional applications and services.
  • Understand and provide guidance on the impact of regulatory change across Asia to the wider product team.
  • Partner with product, sales, technology and operations functions to lead the development, implementation and maintenance of a streamlined legal and compliance process across ecommerce regionally. This includes partnering with the line of business product owners to obtain and record approvals. Key is establishing a consistent and auditable process.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing of the group strategy and cross asset roadmap with local legal, compliance, and risk managers.
  • Participate in local regulatory, compliance, and audit (e.g. IT, Operational) reviews for the product offerings under the Markets Execution umbrella which includes JPMM.
  • Strong follow-up and ownership of regulatory, compliance, risk, and issue resolution. Ensure timely resolution and communication to stakeholders and clients.
Candidates should have of a good amount product development and structured problem solving experience in the financial industry. Exposure to working in an e-commerce setting would be beneficial.  Detailed and extensive experience partnering with product teams, Legal and Compliance Teams within a financial organization is a necessity. A working knowledge of regulatory change and its impact is a plus. Markets product knowledge, in Macro and Spread products is also a plus.
The successful candidate should also possess the following attributes:
  • Direct experience in managing projects on a regional/ global scale. Particular experience in dealing with platforms that cover Markets, Investor services and Post trade functionalities is valued.
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter who is creative with a 'can-do' attitude
  • Possess good communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. Business Mandarin is advantageous in dealing with China regulatory queries, surveys and policy-centric initiative
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/ initiatives simultaneously and independently, while maintaining a high degree of communication and escalation at appropriate junctures
  • Team player comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of quantitative and analytical problem solving skills
  • Quick learner with strong attention to detail; particularly with regards to Asia regulations
  • Good judgment with a keen interest in financial markets
  • Ability to receive and act upon feedback
  • High-level of proficiency in MS-Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
